Quercus alba
White Oak grows throughout the eastern and southern United States and represents 15% of commercially available domestic hardwoods. Trees reach average heights of 70 to 80 feet.
Grain is straight and open. Sapwood is cream white and heartwood dark grey-brown. Although dense, strong and durable, White Oak has excellent bending properties. It machines, nails and screws and finishes well.
White Oak is an excellent hardwood for use in flooring, furniture, cabinetry, millwork and boat building.
